Arriva, one of the first bus operators along with De Blas y Cía
Arriva, one of the leading European groups of passenger transport, also became one of the first suppliers of bus services in Madrid after acquiring the operator Blas y Cía, who have more than 35 million passengers a year in the southwest of the Autonomous Community of Madrid with 222 buses and a staff of 679.
- De Blas y Cía were founded in 1939 by the De Blas and Gomez families and started operating between Madrid and Navalcarnero. Today, their 34 routes take them to Alcorcon, Mostoles, Navalcarnero, Madrid-Norte, Fuenlabrada and Villaviciosa de Odón mainly.
- De Blas y Cía also possesses 30% of the limited liability company which which manages the Transport changer Príncipe Pío, where the lines of the Metro, bus and commuter trains between Madrid and the southwest of the Community meet. And it also counts on two companies, Servicios Integrales Bus & Truck S.A. and Greisi S.L., which are in charge of the maintenance of their own and other buses.
- Along with acquisition of De Blas y Cía, Arriva also bought the operators Grupo Esfera and Autocares Fray Escoba, both in Madrid, in 2007. This way, Arriva establishes a staff of 782 and 264 buses in the Community of Madrid.
